Anniekay Brown – Textile Technologist | Materials & Color Science Specialist | Defense & Product Development Professional
Anniekay Brown is a textile technologist and materials specialist with more than a decade of experience spanning defense product testing, textile manufacturing, merchandising strategy, and design development. With a multidisciplinary background that bridges science, engineering, and creative design, Anniekay brings a rare ability to translate complex textile performance requirements into practical solutions across defense, retail, and manufacturing industries.
Most recently, Anniekay served as a Textile Technologist (GS-11) with the U.S. Department of Defense at the Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support Product Testing Analytical Unit. In this role, she specialized in textile softgoods analysis and physical testing, applying standards such as ASTM, AATCC, and NIST to evaluate color performance, materials, and finishes used in military textile products. Through innovative testing methods and material evaluation strategies, she helped reduce product failure rates by approximately 15%, generating over $1 million in savings on defense contracts.
Prior to her work in federal service, Anniekay spent more than six years with TJX Companies, where she served as a Senior Merchant Coordinator supporting multiple regional departments. She led cross-functional projects involving over 150 SKUs across fashion and textile categories while managing merchandising timelines, product development coordination, and pricing strategies that contributed to consistent quarterly performance and approximately $4 million in managed departmental revenue.
Earlier in her career, Anniekay worked in textile production and design roles in both Los Angeles and New York, including positions with Carvel Textiles (Samsung C&T America) and Duralee Fabrics. In these roles, she collaborated with engineers, designers, buyers, and global manufacturing partners to develop fabrics, manage textile production cycles, and translate color and pattern concepts into market-ready products. Her work included CAD textile design, pattern development, trend-based colorway creation, and technical documentation for international mills.
Anniekay holds multiple advanced degrees reflecting both technical and business expertise, including an MBA in Business Management from Shenandoah University, a Master’s in Reverse Logistics from American Public University, a Master of Professional Studies in Fashion Marketing from LIM College, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Textile and Surface Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology.
Her technical toolkit includes Adobe Creative Suite, NedGraphics, A2000, Salesforce, SAP, PointCarre, and emerging AI-based creative tools. Anniekay’s work sits at the intersection of material science, product innovation, and strategic business execution—making her uniquely positioned to support organizations seeking high-performance textile solutions and data-driven product development.
Through her work, Anniekay continues to advance textile technology, color science, and product performance across industries ranging from defense logistics to consumer retail.
